My contract end date is being flagged

Fix the contract end date so it matches B_02.02.0080: use yyyy-mm-dd, 9999-12-31 for indefinite contracts, the termination date if ended early, or the renewal date if renewed.

What this usually means

This means the value entered for the contract end date does not match the fill-in rule for End date of the contractual arrangement, or the date is not in the required format.

The field must use ISO 8601 date format (yyyy-mm-dd). The correct value depends on what the contractual arrangement says: a fixed end date, an indefinite arrangement, a termination date that differs from the original end date, or a renewal date stated in the arrangement.

Why this happens

  1. The date is not entered in yyyy-mm-dd format.

  2. The contractual arrangement is indefinite, but the field is not set to 9999-12-31.

  3. The contractual arrangement ended early, but the field still shows the original end date instead of the termination date.

  4. The contractual arrangement foresees a renewal, but the field still shows the original end date instead of the renewal date stipulated in the arrangement.

  5. The value entered does not match the date stated in the contractual arrangement.

What to check and how to fix it

Check the date format. If the value is not in yyyy-mm-dd format, the field does not meet the End date of the contractual arrangement instruction.

Correct the format and save the record again.

Check whether the contractual arrangement is indefinite.

If it has no fixed end date, the field should be 9999-12-31. Replace any blank, placeholder, or business estimate date with that value.

Check whether the contractual arrangement was terminated on a date different from the original end date.

If it was, the field should contain the termination date. Replace the original contractual end date with the termination date.

Check whether the contractual arrangement foresees a renewal.

If it does, the field should contain the contract renewal date stipulated in the contractual arrangement. Replace the original end date with that renewal date.

Check the source used for the value.

If the date came from an internal tracker, summary sheet, or side note rather than the contractual arrangement, go back to the contract wording and use the date that matches the End date of the contractual arrangement rule.

What happens next

Once the field value matches the contractual arrangement rule and uses the correct date format, save the record and run validation or export again.
